What Is the 1X NEO?
NEO is a two-legged household robot developed by the American-Norwegian company 1X Technologies. Don’t confuse it with NeoSapien (a wearable device) or heyneo.com (an AI engineering agent). However, according to company announcements, heyneo.com will permanently shut down its platform on October 30, 2026. Subscription billing has fully stopped.

Autonomy and Expert Mode: Who Controls NEO?
NEO works autonomously by default. For tasks it doesn’t know, you can schedule a remote 1X Expert, and you approve each session. The robot’s ear rings change colour while an Expert is active.
