Is an IPO planned? 

CEO Arthur Mensch has described an IPO as a long-term plan, but no date has been announced. The Series D announcement on September 8, 2026 came without an IPO timeline.

Can you invest indirectly? 

Several listed companies hold Mistral stakes or have invested in its various rounds. ASML invested (about 11% after the 2025 round); Samsung Electronics led the 2026 round with Nvidia. Mistral is likely a small part of these companies' overall value, so their share prices are a weak stand-in for Mistral.

What about a Mistral AI forecast? 

There is no market price, so no reliable share price forecast exists. What you can follow instead: the valuation rose from about €5.8 billion in June 2024 to more than €21 billion in September 2026, and Mensch told CNBC that Mistral is on track to pass $1 billion in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2026. Treat these as company statements, not guarantees.

Who Is Behind Mistral AI?

Three researchers founded the company. Arthur Mensch worked at Google DeepMind, while Guillaume Lample and Timothée Lacroix came from Meta. Their goal is efficient, open AI that Europe can control.

Mistral AI Models and Products in 2026

Models 

Mistral Large 3, released in December 2025 under the Apache 2.0 license, is the flagship model you can download today. 

On October 6, 2026, Mistral opened a public preview of Mistral Large 4, a model of about one trillion parameters that it calls its most capable to date. Mistral says the weights will follow by the end of October, and press reports point to a custom license rather than Apache 2.0, so check the terms once they are published.

Vibe

On May 28, 2026, Mistral renamed its Le Chat assistant to Vibe and merged it with its coding agent. It now covers everyday work and coding in one product. A free plan exists; however, the paid subscription for Pro costs $14.99 per month, and Team and Enterprise plans are available. Check Mistral's site for current prices.

API and private deployment

You can call the models through the API, and the Enterprise tier supports private deployment.

What are the limitations of Mistral AI?

Mistral AI isn't suitable for every job. You might find that there aren't many pre-existing integrations and tutorials, as its ecosystem is younger than that of OpenAI. Self-hosting requires technical expertise and GPU hardware, and it's not a undertaking to be taken lightly. Changes happen rapidly in the models and therefore there is a need for continuous maintenance. Make plans for these things before you get involved.
